Automist Reduced Ligature Faceplate

A ligature-reduced fire suppression faceplate designed to enhance safety in mental health and secure care environments.

Developed in collaboration with Plumis, this solution forms part of the Automist fire suppression system, offering advanced protection with a safety-focused design.

Suitable for healthcare, mental health, custodial, and supported living environments where ligature risk reduction and fire safety are critical.

Product Description

The Automist Reduced Ligature Faceplate is a specialist adaptation of the Automist fire suppression system, designed specifically for environments where ligature risk must be carefully managed. The wall-mounted spray head features smooth, rounded contours and tamper-resistant detailing to minimise potential attachment points.

As part of the wider Automist system, the faceplate works with intelligent detection technology to provide rapid fire response. Using EmberTrack™ technology, the system can detect and respond to fire conditions significantly faster than traditional sprinkler systems, helping to protect vulnerable individuals at an earlier stage.

Designed for retrofit applications, the system connects directly to the mains water supply and does not require additional tanks, making it ideal for existing buildings. Its dry system design means water is only present during activation, reducing the risk of leaks and Legionella.

This solution provides an effective balance of fire safety, ligature risk reduction, and minimal disruption installation, making it particularly suited to secure care settings.

Product Features

  • Ligature-reduced spray head design with smooth, rounded profile
  • Tamper-resistant construction to minimise misuse
  • Designed for use with Automist fire suppression systems
  • Early activation capability using EmberTrack™ technology
  • Retrofittable solution with minimal disruption
  • Connects directly to mains water supply (no tank required)
  • Dry system reduces risk of leaks and Legionella
  • Suitable for mental health, healthcare, and secure environments

How it Works

In the event of a fire, the system is automatically triggered by a ceiling-mounted detector.
The Automist spray head scans the room to detect temperature changes.
If a fire is identified, the system targets it directly using a fine watermist spray.
The watermist rapidly removes heat, suppressing the fire while minimising water damage.

System & Technology

EmberTrack™ Detection Technology

  • Uses intelligent heat pattern recognition to detect fires earlier
  • Responds to rate of temperature increase rather than fixed thresholds
  • Reduces false alarms from non-fire heat sources
  • Can be configured to suit specific risk environments

Installation

  • Designed for retrofit into existing buildings.
  • Minimal disruption to occupied environments during installation.
  • Connects directly to mains water supply.
  • No additional tanks or major structural changes required.
